The band’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, will be released August 9 via Roadrunner Records. This is Slipknot’s first LP since 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter!
Slipknot have been working hard to make the five year long wait worthwhile. “This is most time we’ve had to write a record, and work stuff out together. One of my inspirations this time around was those artists that recorded full length albums—not just songs. While the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back.” Says Guitarist Jim Root. “These days the art we are making comes with the highest reward, because it’s taken the most time,” Adds percussionist and creative force Shawn “Clown” Crahan, . “Almost four years to create this emotion and temperature, and the reward now is nothing short of salvation.”
In the lead up to the release of We Are Not Your Kind, not only have Slipknot unveiled new masks and album details, but they have dropped their first single from the album, Unsainted. In the Shawn “Clown” Crahan directed video you can see the band put on robes and engage in some sinister rituals.
