A track conjured during the band’s time spent at a secluded farm recording and immersing themselves in their creative flow, Phantom saw the Adelaide bunch teaming up with Josh Meyer from Aussie alt rock duo Those Who Dream to help push their creative boundaries and bring the track to life.

Ultimately expanding their aesthetic into poppier territory with this latest spectral creation, Phantom mixes pop melodics with punchy palm-muted guitars, dynamic drumwork, and the emo-ready vocal stylings of Jack Cumes, resulting in a eerie yet addictive anthem that flexes the group’s accessibility and continued sonic development. From forming in 2020 to releasing two EPs An Honest Mistake and Amor Mortal and touring alongside the likes of Black Veil Brides, Creeper and Between You & Me, Wolf & Chain have rapidly proven themselves to be “ones to watch” time and time again.

A haunting yet cohesive package that still dishes up plenty of laced-up emo energy

But it’s via Phantom and their new sonic pivot that Wolf & Chain now sit tantalisingly poised to shake off the shackles entirely of being yet another golden era emo-influenced band and become themselves a shaping force in the new era of delectably dark alternative rock. A haunting yet cohesive package that still dishes up plenty of laced-up emo energy, Phantom is a spinetingler that will keep you coming back for more.
