Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Coming from the depths of Van Diemen’s Land is an exciting new metal project, She Walks Through Dusk, formed by friends Imogen Duske (awesome name) and Amelia Kohl (still dark sounding, so also good.)

Beginning as a singer-songwriter duo with Imogen on vocals, the DNA of dark balladry lingers through If You’re Silent, led by Imogen’s dusky yet clear-as-a-bell vocals. Drums are four on the floor, laid-back yet heavy guitars evoke heavy blues from far flung places like Celtic or Gaelic isles.
Imogen sells the protagonist losing their faith, crying “These silent screams / leaves me afraid / can’t I be saved?” as the band on gang vocals howl like the ‘black dog’ our figure is running from. Leaving the A and B sections behind we’re treated to a potent, guitar-led bridge with rollicking, turbulent leads.
Injecting a bit of rock n’ roll pomp into the mix, the last chorus features Imogen’s incredible voice taking flight, hitting a big high note for what seems like an eternity. It ends on an unforgettable flourish.
Though the production is a little thin in parts and the band could use a bit more tightening, all things I’m sure the band will remedy on single #2. Let’s see where that dark road takes us …
