Get in emo kids, we’re going poppin’ with Brisbane pop punks Two Times Shy and their brand new single Gone.

An infectious new tune from the Meanjin quartet, Gone dazzles with crisp production, hooky riffs and more buoyant fizz than a Maccas Coke.
A short yet sweet anthem clocking in at a hair over three minutes, Gone builds on the group’s signature sound showcased on their recent debut EP It Looks Better Than It Sounds while also throwing in some youthful angst for good measure. “Gone tells a story of what it’s like to fall apart when the person you love and want to be with is not with you, how you feel when they are gone,” says frontman Douglas Hudswell of the band’s latest track.
Gone solidifies that Two Times Shy are here for good.
But never fear, the vibes are still frothy with the track’s pop punk trappings colourfully balancing the lyrical heartbreak, and it’s certainly a track that could keep you coming back for more. Emerging in 2022, Two Times Shy have busily endeared themselves with their affable ways, with supports alongside the likes of Late 90s and Bad Neighbour under their belts, their track Lonely featured on the Seven Network’s Friday Night Footy, and plenty of critical and airplay love across the board. And with their increasingly relentless creative output in 2023, there’s zero chance the group will go the way of their latest single’s title; if anything Gone solidifies that Two Times Shy are here for good.
