Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
It has been almost 30 years since Tool released their critically acclaimed EP Opiate, and to celebrate the milestone, the band have gifted fans with a reimagined version of the title track.

While the original composition clocked in at just over 5 minutes, the aptly named Opiate² is a 10 minute long epic with enhanced studio production and musicianship, benefiting from the years of experience the groundbreaking prog-metal outfit now have under their belt.
To accompany the release of the single, Tool’s guitarist, Adam Jones collaborated with visual artist Dominic Hailstone to create the band’s first music video in over 15 years (available for purchase on BlueRay from 18 March 2022). Hailstone is an acclaimed artist in his own right, having contributed to the concept for the film Alien: Covenant. In addition, he recently worked with Tool in putting together the live visuals for the band’s Fear Inoculum tour.
A further goody that fans will receive when purchasing the physical release of Opiate² will be a 40+ page book filled with pictures and interviews with the band, as well as insights from special guests.
Highlight: The band have really outdone themselves with the bolstered arrangement through the song’s extended bridge – simply spectacular!
