Hard Hitting!

Sure, their 2021 debut album Planet Eater was hard, but I don’t think anyone was expecting  Shiva to be coming in so hot with their newest single The Hunted.

It may well be the most brutal song that you’re yet to discover.

Merging elements of deathcore; metalcore and nü metal into a kaleidoscope of brutality, The Hunted showcases exactly why Shiva have become an emerging talking point in the Sydney metal community over the last few months. With the keys and guitar harmonics providing a nod to the symphonic elements of European death metal and Taylor Humphries’ multi-toned gutturals adding such a sinister feeling, The Hunted is at times hard to categorise, which is possibly it’s most impressive feature. That it’s not trying to sound like anyone.

The Hunted is a track that will have fans of the mid 2000’s core scene frothing and reminiscing at the same time.

Moving away from their initial nü metal influences to something closer to the likes of modern day deathcore acts like Slaughter To Prevail, The Hunted sees Shiva dabbling into some fairly unchartered territory for a current Australian heavy act. By adding some seven string solo’s into the background, utilising tremolo picking and an incredibly timed final breakdown, The Hunted is a track that will have fans of the mid 2000’s core scene frothing and reminiscing at the same time.

In support of the single release, the group have also dropped a music video.
