PREMIERE: SUPER GHOST // Get Introspective On Impressive New Single ‘Complacent’

Super Ghost has us dreaming of warm, spring days with Complacent.

MORE: AVATAR: Dancing With The Devil // TROPHY EYES: “I Realised My Career Was Probably Close To Over If I Didn’t Release Something” REVIEWS: MILITARIE GUN: Life Under The Gun // TROPHY EYES: Suicide and Sunshine // PVRIS: EVERGREEN // MOVEMENTS: RUCKUS!

Celebrating the best bits of Midwest emo and indie rock, the track is personal, emotional and full of shade and texture. Sonically, it’s got a lot to love, with bright melodies, horn moments and a whole bunch of reverb. And thematically, it’s just as strong, tackling the concepts of change and growth, while specifically drawing on vocalist Alexander Shoesmith‘s experience of leaving an unfulfilling job.

“Complacent is a heartfelt reflection on those moments in life when we find ourselves stuck in the comfort of the familiar, even if it’s far from fulfilling. This song allowed me to express the mixed emotions of nostalgia and regret while also igniting a spark of hope for a better future,” says Shoesmith.

Super Ghost has released a steady stream of singles since 2021, impressing music fans in their city of the Gold Coast and beyond. They’ve also played sold-out shows at venues like Vinnie’s Dive Bar and the Bearded Lady and performed in the Sunshine Coast, Kingscliff, Byron Bay, Tambourine and more.

Complacent follows on from this year’s singles, Friendless and Don’t Talk About It. It will officially hit streaming platforms tomorrow. In the meantime, you can give it a spin right here.
