Following the release of the group’s most recent single Daydreaming in 2022, 2023 is kicking off with a driving bang via a brand new Meliorist track Wishful Thinking; and it’s certainly not wishful thinking to assume that the group have only burgeoned since last seen and heard last year, with the new tune full of bouncy hooks, bright and vigorous riffs, immersive melodics, intertwined rasping and clean vocals, and just the right amount of grit for good measure. It’s Meliorist, perhaps not as fans of their earlier work would know them, but this is certainly not a negative reality.

With Wishful Thinking marking the second single off the band’s brand new full length album, the impending Cascade due out on Friday 3 February, there’s plenty to love about the brand new chapter for the Brisbane bunch. And with mixing and mastering once again by Nick Sampson of Born of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and Polyphia fame, Wishful Thinking not only showcases the ongoing and thriving growth Meliorist have pursued as a band over the years, it also brings a welcome fresh burst of sonic air into the scene for 2023.

Forming back in 2015 before going on to release multiple EPs and a full-length Patterns in 2019, Meliorist have steadily evolved to both shake themselves up and wow fans and the industry like, evolving their more ferocious leanings into a more mellow and glimmering output and continuing to charm an ever-growing fanbase ravenous for their scintillating guitarwork, thunderous rhythms and soaring vocals. Debuting their new vocalist Andrew Corfieled on Patterns, the group are clearly in control more than ever of their metalcore-meets-post-hardcore with pop sensibilities and other stylistic leanings thrown in for good measure; and absence between releases has definitely made the heart and the tunes grow fonder,

With nine brand new tracks ready to roll on Cascade, due out in just few short weeks, undoubtedly we’ll be seeing and hearing a whole lot more from Meliorist as we venture into 2023 and beyond; but for now, you can grab an exclusive peek at Wishful Thinking right now right here on Hysteriamag.com before the track officially drops. Grab a listen and a watch below, we dare you to sit still listening to this badass bop!

Wishful Thinking is out Friday 13 January, with the full album Cascade due out Friday 3 February.
