If anything, you’d probably think the newest single is by stadium heavyweights like Architects or Bring Me The Horizon

Adopting traits of nü metal; alternative rock and metalcore, and bundling them up into a soaring anthem destined for arenas, Wearing Thin provides uniquely eclectic fusions of sound, highlighting why the group have the potential to become the next band to be dominating the main stage. Although, based on their sound, they already should be. As the first cut from the group’s upcoming debut album, (which is produced by Christopher Vernon (Belle Haven, Better Half), Wearing Thin looks to explore the ever-present feeling of claustrophobia and panic. Inspired by the battle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the album aims to draw influence from a heavier, more substantive place, with the band having already confirmed that Wearing Thin highlights the release’s softer side.

If you had encountered them previously, it’ll be pretty evident that Nth Rd have done some massive rebranding over the past year and are now looking to take on much bigger things

But that doesn’t mean Wearing Thin is just a slower metal number with a poppy chorus touted for Triple J play, instead it’s a downright spectacle that proves that as a new band you can still combine huge riffs; singalong choruses and syncopated percussion. Because even as newcomers, Nth Rd were always destined for more of an anthemic sound, especially considering their guitarist Billy Balassis learnt his craft as a protégé of Australian hard rock legend Jimi Hocking of (The Screaming Jets). If you had encountered them previously, it’ll be pretty evident that Nth Rd have done some massive rebranding over the past year and are now looking to take on much bigger things and considering that Wearing Thin is only the first dose of their debut album, it seems it’s only a matter of time until they are.

STICK THIS NEXT TO: While She Sleeps, Bring Me The Horizon, Architects
