Ask any fan of punk rock their favourite bands, and more likely than not, Strung …
Halloween may be behind us, but that hasn’t stopped skeleton punks, Nocturnal Animals, from serving us a treat: their debut EP!
MORE: PARKWAY DRIVE: “It’s About Encapsulating The Beauty In It, Through The Darkness” // DUNE RATS: Dance Lessons and Thinking Outside The Box REVIEWS: SLEEPING WITH SIRENS: Complete Collapse // blink-182: EDGING // FREEDOM OF FEAR: Carpathia // ARCHITECTS: the classic symptoms of a broken spirit // SLIPKNOT: The End, So Far // THE GLOOM IN THE CORNER: Trinity
It’s called Paint A Picture, and it’s seen the band soar to epic new heights. Featuring six relatable tracks with a whole lot of attitude, it covers dysfunctional relationships, the pressure to fit society’s mould and digging deep and finding your inner confidence, even in the dark times.
“Paint A Picture is a fuck you with a smile! The emotions of letting go of all your cares and saying a simple fuck you to all the people that have given you grief with a passive tone. You will go through a musical journey through letters and pages from a diary that represent the feeling of coming into your own; walking with the confidence of not giving a shit whilst recognising underneath that you’re scared,” says the band.
In recent times, the Adelaide-based band have supported DZ Deathrays, The Buoys, Nerve and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, impressing gig-goers with their modern, charged-up brand of punk. They’ve also released a stack of singles dating back to 2020’s Rocket Girls, winning the hearts of music lovers all over Australia (including us!).
Paint a Picture is available to stream now.
The trio will also play a string of shows supporting the EP this November-January. Catch all the dates below.
