It’s been a long time coming but LLC has finally dropped the follow up to his 2016 EP, View of Solitude, and it’s a sunshiney dose of alternative pop—just what the doctor ordered really.

The Sydney based song weaver (who also happens to be a producer and one man band) has been on the road for the better part of the last decade, and it’s obvious that he’s been blasting eighties pop and acoustic emo tunes on the tour bus along the way.

It’s a mish-mash that shouldn’t work, but it does—kind of like dipping your Maccas fries into a soft serve.

Sonically, View From Solitude takes massive influence from both eras. It’s a mish-mash that shouldn’t work, but it does—kind of like dipping your Maccas fries into a soft serve. What really makes the record stand out though are the guest appearances from Chantel Le Cros (who features on Just Let it Go and In Time) Shash (who features on My Hometown and In Time) and JJ Brady (who takes screamed vocal duty on Since She’s Gone). They’re that extra bit of oomph that really makes the mishmashed soundscape and heart on the sleeve lyricism shine.

All in all, LLC (short for Lorenzo La Cava) has crafted an EP full of sentimental and sincere tunes. View From Solitude is a strong representation of the sound the multi-instrumentalist has described as retro pop modern rock. It’s also the result of the musician asking the question, what would happen if I tried to make a record full of tracks that sound like a warm hug.
