Today the Slipknot-curated Knotfest Australia has revealed its bumper line-up, featuring metal legends Pantera and Disturbed as co-headliners.

A sellout surprise in 2023, Knotfest returns to Australia in 2024 with an insane line-up featuring the groove metal gods Pantera and alt-metal chart-toppers Disturbed leading an incredible celebration of all things weird and heavy.
Southern metal masters Lamb of God, metal wizards Halestorm, and Mongol-warrior kings The Hu will usher in the night.
The rest of this mammoth line-up comprises bands for every flavour of metal and ‘core head: Asking Alexandria, Wage War, glam/core devils Escape The Fate, deathcore kings (and recently CJ-less) Thy Art Is Murder, Rasta-metallers Skindred, Aussie darlings Speed, Windwaker, Brand Of Sacrifice, and Halloween Hysteria alumni King Parrot.
Melbourne’s leg will take place at Flemington Racecourse on the 21st of March, Sydney’s tilt at Centennial Park on the 23rd, and Brisbane’s Showgrounds on the 24th.
The appearance of Pantera will be the first time the band has officially played in Australia since 1996. (An ersatz Pantera “true tribute” performed under Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals in 2019.) The influence of NOLA’s Pantera cannot be understated; with the multi-platinum selling Cowboys From Hell (1990) and Vulgar Display of Power (1992) setting the tone for extreme US metal throughout the decade and beyond, also nabbing four Grammy nominations along the way. The 2023 reunion of Rex Brown and Phil Anselmo sees Phil’s vision of a “true tribute” come to life in a new and exciting form.
Chicago metal powerhouse Disturbed are one of few metal bands that have both mainstream and metalhead appeal in equal measure. With two Grammy nominations, millions of record sales and five consecutive #1 debuts on the US Billboard Top 200, Disturbed have an extensive catalogue of headbanging hits that crowds the world over go wild for.
Also returning for 2024 is the vaunted Slipknot Museum Experience. This year’s Museum Experience will feature a jaw-dropping collection that played a pivotal role through the band’s storied journey.
We couldn’t get enough of 2023’s festival, saying “for eight hours, the freaks held court for once. We survived, we thrived, and we made this our own.”
Hey, but where’s Slipknot? Isn’t this Knotfest?
Slipknot usually headline each Knotfest, but in some instances grace another band (or bands) with this honour. For example, the 2017 Knotfest in Mexico saw Korn and A Perfect Circle take their place instead.
Knotfest began in 2012 as a Slipknot-curated metal festival held in two locations – Council Bluffs, Iowa, close to the band’s hometown of Des Moines, and in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Since its original inception, Knotfests have been held in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Japan, as well as United States cross-country roadshows and ocean cruises (including Knotfest at Sea). It’s also teamed-up with other festivals including Ozzy Osbourne’s Ozzfest and France’s premier metal festival, Hellfest.
