Dani Filth dishes on how he got into horror and how he actually made Tony …
Sequels often get a bad rap. But US up-and-comers Magnolia Park have proven just how good they can be with their latest offering, Halloween Mixtape II.

Not just a scary good time, the record is also the spiritual follow-up to 2021’s Halloween Mixtape. And clocking in at 17 tracks (we’re counting the four fun interludes), it has a little something for everyone.
Pop-punk, pop, alt-rock, nu-metal, phonk and emo are all on offer. And vocally, there’s rapping, screams and plenty of melodic singalong moments. Ultimately, all this has made for a hooky and catchy record, with a little flair for the dramatic.
Halloween Mixtape II notably features the heaviest tracks from the band to date, in the form of the glitchy and darker Do or Die and Animal.
Elsewhere, there’s the nostalgic and synthy Fell in Love on Halloween (sure to give you the warm and fuzzies). And the horror-movie-soundtrack-worthy run of Haunted House, Candles and Dead on Arrival.
On Halloween Mixtape II, Magnolia Park have dug deep into their bag of tricks and delivered plenty of treats.
Halloween Mixtape II also wins points for its feature artists (including Kailee Morgue, nothing, nowhere. and Ethan Ross), who add more than just their names. On top of all this, there’s also the mixtapes’ moody, authentic lyricism – particularly solid on tracks like Life in the USA.
On Halloween Mixtape II, Magnolia Park have dug deep into their bag of tricks and delivered plenty of treats.
Ultimately, this release is not just a wild ride that’s put the bands’ creativity on full display. It’s also cemented their status as forward-thinking, pop-punk visionaries.
