Fried is three minutes of high-octane punk, bursting with angular, distorted guitars, rabid drums and the ruthless vocals of lead singer Daniel Breda. It soon opens into a shrieking breakdown before hurtling towards a heaving outro, wrapping up an exhilarating, cathartic roller-coaster ride of a track.

Daniel talks about the inspiration behind Fried:

“Lyrically, it deals with not recognising what’s good or bad for your health. Making mistakes, blundering situations, reeling in toxicity, not accepting help but being vulnerable and unwise. All in all, behaving like an absolute pumpkin head.”

The accompanying music video was directed, shot and edited by the band themselves and follows a fictional, ‘pumpkin head’ character as he attempts to fix a broom they just broke. The band explain, “it is a very abstract visual representation; of the emotional undoing referenced in the song. After many frantic and manic attempts to fix it, they refuse the help of someone else. Fighting them off, they eventually give in and the broom is fixed, ultimately leading to a positive result.”

To coincide with the release of their debut studio album, Hoon will hit the road on an eleven-date national tour across the east coast of Australia, with shows in Ngunnawal/Canberra, Naarm/Melbourne, Wurundjeri/Tecoma, Mulubinba/Newcastle, Yugambeh/Gold Coast, Meanjin/Brisbane, Kabi Kabi/Sunshine Coast, Cavanbah/Bangalow, Eora/Sydney, Miryyal/Ulladulla and Dharawal/Wollongong.

This continues from supporting luminaires SkegssDune Rats and Clowns, and most recently, a nine-date Australian tour supporting the release of their single Propane.

The band are incredibly passionate about helping build the arts in their hometown and have run all ages festivals such as ‘All Of Us‘, ‘Crown Street Takeover‘, ‘Hoon-Fest’ and ‘The Gong Crawl‘, the last of which had over 150 contributors, spanned six venues and two art exhibitions.

Fried will be available worldwide on Friday, March 17
