Adelaide indie-punk outfit The Hard Aches have revealed all the details for their second album. Mess is set for release on 13th April through Anchorhead Records.

The album’s title track is available now on all digital platforms. Fans got the first taste of it on triple j’s Good Nights last night.

Speaking about the album, frontman Ben David says, “Mess is a collection of songs inspired by the people around us and the experiences we’ve all shared together or apart. Written with a focus on mental health in a hopeful and positive light.”

“This album is sonically (and creatively) the best representation of us as a band, the album we’ve been working towards creating through years of touring and making music.”

The two-piece stepped into Holes & Corners in Melbourne with Sam Johnson to record the album last year. The 12 tracks also feature a slew of special guests; Camp Cope’s Georgia Maq, The Bennies’ Craig Selak, and US punk icon Jeff Rosenstock.

Of course, how do The Hard Aches celebrate an announcement like this? With a national tour of course. It’s what they do best.

The seven-date tour hits most capital cities, and kicks off in April; with support from two exciting new outfits on the scene. Antonia & The Lazy Susans from the Blue Mountains, and fellow Adelaide riffers Sincerely, Grizzly. Tickets for all shows go on sale Monday, 5th February.

Pre-orders and bundle packs for the new album are available now through the Anchorhead webstore.
