Like most artists, COVID provided a time for Hands Like Houses to reflect, reset, cry and have a few babies. After 18 months between shows, and twice that since they last left Australia, the band wanted to take their first step back into this new and changed world with a song that felt like it captured what that means to them.

Hurricane showcases a darker emotive side of the band; it’s about patience in vulnerability – riding out the storm, holding on white-knuckled and just keeping your head above water until better days come around, like a sunrise over calm water. The band shared, “For a long time, our band was defined by our time on the road, and so we wanted this song to distill what we love about the live experience. Its power, its emotion and its energy – meant to kick you in the chest then give your heart a squeeze. In the same breath, we wanted to pay homage to those definitive years we spent chasing that experience, and the albums born out of them. We chose this song because it felt like a nod to that past, while also casting a cautious eye to the future, whatever it may bring.”

With ten years together under their belt, plus international sold out tours and legions of global fans, Hands Like Houses are ready to start the next chapter. After a stint away from touring, they’ll perform headline shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this month, with more music to come in 2023.

Hands Likes Houses inject a fresh dose of modern stadium rock into Australia’s thriving alternative scene. The band has enjoyed 2 x Top 10 ARIA charting albums, over 130,000 album sales and over 130 million Spotify streams. 2020 saw the band enjoy commercial success landing theme songs for the AFL & NRL Grand Final series, the WWE Super Showdown, the Fox League theme as well as full rotation on Triple M and triple j.
