Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
DZ Deathrays continue to push the boundaries of rock. Their 3rd full length, Bloody Lovely, was released last year, debuting at #4 on the ARIA charts, and bringing about a third ARIA Award nomination.

Combining distinct guitar hooks, with their unique party rock vibe, Bloody Lovely, showed that DZ Deathrays are not letting up. Combine the success of the record with numerous international tours, and a lengthy tour on home soil, with supports from Canadian Punk legends, PUP, and you can see why DZ Deathrays have reached the heights they have.
The fact that DZ wanted to collab on a hip-hop piece was not a secret. Having indicated such desires for years now, it was only a matter of time. The crew which has been assembled, however, could not have been a better choice.
Front Row Hustle is a party anthem, bringing together stalwarts of the Australian scene–Trials and Briggs, with wonder-rapper Jesswar, and the underlying incongruous, but strangely compatible, tones, of DZ.
Even in the music industry, timing is everything, and this track is released exactly when it needs to be. With the rise of Soundcloud rappers and a political push for a loosening of music-related legislation, this is going to hit the right chords, literally and figuratively.
Jesswar, in particular, is massive on this track, and her authority and presence shine through from the first word she spits. It’s a somewhat rag-tag assembly, but it just plain works, and the ferocity and intensity of the track will draw a lot of attention.
You can catch DZ Deathrays as they tour nationally, including multiple regional shows, over March-April, with the grungy signs of Canberra rockers, Moaning Lisa, and the wavey sounds of surf-rock legends, Good Doogs.
