DZ DEATHRAYS // Announce HUGE Australian Regional Tour

I Oh You are excited to announce that DZ Deathrays will be hitting the road again, this time covering areas of Australia that have been thirsty for their thrash-rock for years.

The tour announcement comes off the back of an epic 2018 for DZ Deathrays, who released their third LP Bloody Lovely, got their third ARIA Award nomination, brought Murray ‘OG Red Wiggle’ Cook to the stage at Splendour In The Grass, toured Europe and South Africa, and completed two massive tours at home seeing them step into their biggest headline rooms to date (Enmore, Forum, Tivoli etc).

It doesn’t take long for these shred lords to get the itch again though, and they decided the best way to kick off the new year is to visit fans in regional areas of Australia, who may not have had the pleasure of seeing them in recent times.

In true DZ-style, they’re bringing some mates along for the ride. WA fans will be treated to slacker rock trio Good Doogs on the lineup, and joining them on the rest of the tour will be buzzed-about grunge outfit Moaning Lisa. Together they’ll investigate where the best rest-stops are around VIC, soak up some humidity in their home-state of QLD, work out which NSW town has the best schnitty, and all the other activities you get up to when road-tripping this great brown land–all while making a hell of a lot of noise.

Night Of The Living Shred

Scattered throughout the regional dates are festivals that some city-folk will get a chance to catch, including St Kilda Festival in Melbourne, the opening of Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide, City Limits Festival in Perth, Garden Party in Wollongong, and there may very well be more under their belt to discuss at some point soon.

News of this tour comes almost one year since the release of Bloody Lovely featuring crowd favourite Like People. The film clip—featuring aforementioned Wiggle, Murray Cook–was nominated for Australian Music Video of the Year by triple j, and got in at #2 in the Rage FIFTY, sitting just behind iconic rapper and actor Childish Gambino. triple j’s Hottest 100 voting is still open, but we reckon the band will hear a lot of screams for that track in these venues come February.

As if all that wasn’t enough, before they even step foot on this tour, the band is making a quick trip over to LA to record a new album. As you do. Joining them is their long-time live band mate and now official third member of DZ Deathrays, Lachlan Ewbank. Original founders Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley are ecstatic to officially welcome Ewbank to the fold and look forward to creating something new for release as early as this year.
