DEAD OF WINTER // Drops Insanely Massive Line-Up for 2019

Shiver no longer, Brisbanites: Dead of Winter is back with a MASSIVE line-up that’ll have your nostalgia senses tingling and your necks snapping with glee.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this popular mid-winter Festival boasts an impressive line-up with Australian prog royalty Cog as the featured headliners.

The fest will take place on Saturday, 13th July 2019 over two massive stages: The Tivoli and Jubilee Hotels in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

Dead of Winter 2019 also features prog smash Mammal, punk legends Bodyjar, “it” rippers 28 Days, ex-Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age instrumentalist Nick Oliveri, Western prog slingers Voyager, Xenocidal maniacs Aversions Crown, NOTLS headliners A Night In Texas, NSW rock dogs Bare Bones, Israel’s Elephant Hive, and Svetlanas from Mother Russia.

There’s something for everyone at this year’s Dead of Winter from weird sludge (Lo!) to upbeat rock ‘n’ roll (Bakers Eddy) and bass-only wunderkinds (The Omnific.) See the whole first line-up below. Remember: there’s more to be announced.

“[Last] years festival, scoring a 94% satisfaction rate amongst 2018 attendees, is all set to shock and inspire as The Tivoli and Jubilee Hotels are transformed into heavy music and horror fantasy-lands with outer worldly visual effects, dark art displays and kinky sideshows.  The zombie army will be out in force as per usual, road-blocking the valley, with punters encouraged to dress up in horror-fuelled outfits to win prizes on the day,” a statement reads. The coveted make-up and special effects competition will also make its glorious return.

Creative director Christian Tryhorn stated, “The growth of heavy music and in turn Dead of Winter festival over the last few years has been astounding. What, only three years ago, was a 1200 cap single-venue event is now a 4000 cap Australian mainstay and one of the largest gatherings of heavy bands in the country.  We’re all stoked to be bringing Brisbane a mighty fine line-up once again and keen to see DOW sell out as it moves from strength to strength on the back of solid local and national support.”
