CLOWNS // Sign To Fat Wreck Chords And Drop Hot New Single

Big news out of the Clowns camp today as the Melbourne punks announce they’ve put pen to paper and signed an international distribution deal with the those top guns at Fat Wreck Chords.

The contract with Fat Wreck Chords as Clowns’ international releasing partners comes ahead of Clowns’ highly anticipated fourth studio album, Nature/Nurture, from which they’ve just dropped the saucy little single, Prick, a two-minute punk banger that is classic Clowns.

Clowns are only the second Aussie band ever to sign a deal with the esteemed punk-rock label, joining a role that features massive punk greats like NOFX, Descendants, Lagwagon and Against Me!

Clowns have also revealed the expansion of their DIY booking agency, Damaged, to become an independent label operating beneath the Aussie flag, with Nature/Nurture lined up to be the first release on the new label. Vocalist Stevie Williams said of the expansion, “Clowns have been a fiercely DIY band from day dot. We wanna set an example to other Aussie punk musos that if you want to play in a band, you can still just siphon the petrol from your neighbours car, drive 10 hours up the road to a gig with no accommodation, somehow make it work along the way and even though it might take you a few years, eventually you’ll get to where you want to be.

“We drive our own tour van, we book our own shows, we do our own illegal poster runs and now we release our own records. Thanks to everyone who continues to support our little DIY punk homages.”

Set for release on April 12, Nature/Nurture could well be Clowns hottest album yet, and with that in mind, Clowns have amped up their own flavour and collaborated with Gold Coast-based family company Punk Rock Peppers, who won 1st prize in the World Hot Sauce Awards in 2017, to release their own brand of hot sauce. Clowns’ appropriately named May I Be Extinguished? hot sauce boasts contradicting flavours of habanero and lime, a representation of the album’s theme (or so we’re told). May I Be Extinguished? is available only with a pre-order of Nature/Nurture which you can get here.

Nature/Nurture is out on April 12 on Damaged via Caroline Australia.
Catch Clowns at Cherry Bar, Melbourne, on Saturday March 16.
