THIS WILD LIFE // Announce New Album; Drop Stunning New Track

If the new track is any indication, This Wild Life are proving once and for all that the third time is, in fact, the charm.

The Californian acoustic duo have dropped our first taste of their forthcoming third LP, Petaluma, in the form of a soft ‘n’ swervy nugget of pop-folk called Westside. The single shows frontman Kevin Jordan tapping into his serious side, addressing the all-too-prevalent issue of sexual assault.

Westside is a song I’ve wanted to write for many years but never knew how,” says Jordan, “Since its inspiration isn’t my story to tell. Sexual assault isn’t something many people are comfortable talking about, and my perspective in the song is from a person supporting a loved one who’s experienced it. In my moments of anger and frustration I had to focus on showing love, care, and support for the person who was really hurting.

“To anyone who’s been affected by sexual assault, find strength in your loved ones and speak up if you’re able. You could never be a burden.”

Accompanying the new single is a simple, yet simply enchanting music video that shows Jordan and co-guitarist Anthony Del Grosso jamming out to a backdrop of pastel stained glass windows.

Almost as beautiful as news of the new album is the recent news that This Wild Life would agree to play a fan’s wedding after, in true outdated meme fashion, they managed to rack up 100,000 retweets on Twitter. The band confirmed they’ll be treating the lucky fan (named Kay) to an exclusive performance of Hold You Here–the perfect song for a first dance–in a (very fitting) Twitter video last week. Catch that below:
