Speaking of the writing process for the new record, front man Derek DiScanio says: “It was like, let’s take as many swings at it, try as many new things and experiment, until we get to the point where we could start searching through it all and then find the album.”

Having co-written songs with seminal pop punk figures, the album will feature collaborations with the likes of Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low and Mark Hoppus of Blink 182. Speaking of the collaboration DiScanio went on to say: “We had no idea he was even coming in…Then the next day, me and Mark Hoppus are just sitting out by John Feldmann’s pool writing lyrics from scratch. And that ultimately ended up being Dead and Gone, which is the first single on the record.”

Living Proof was recorded in two different sessions and saw the band work with a mix of teams. The first session saw John Feldmann producing, whereas the second session saw Mike Green and Kyle Black of Around the World and Back fame perfecting that classic State Champs sound.

Speaking of the lyrical inspirations behind the album DiScanio said: “There are songs on this album about everything … There’s break-ups, and flings, love, loss, all of that. I’ve seen a little bit of everything through this writing process.”
