RANDY BLYTHE // Weighs In On Gun Laws In Wake Of Latest US Shooting

Whilst such a statement might sound like a cheesy Megadeth lyric from the ’80s, it’s been the all to true reality in the US for the past … forever.

With a lax attitude towards both firearm accessibility and control, it would seem from an observer view that tighter gun laws are an all too easy fix to the horrific rate of mass shootings every year in America, with the killing of 17 high school students last week reminding the world how awful the problem is.

Ever one to speak his mind on social and political issues, Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe took to social media over the weekend to condemn the attacks, rallying for “reasonable, common-sense gun law changes.”

“Instead of thinking and praying, here’s a concrete action you can take—contact your legislators and demand that there be … gun law changes. Demand it and keep amending it.” the singer wrote.

“How many more kids have to die until we the people get fed up enough to force the government to do something?

The lunatic shooter … is 19 years old and can’t legally buy a 6-pack of beer because our society doesn’t think he is mature enough to handle it, but he legally obtained a deadly weapon of war … and he used it to wage war on children.”

In summation, Blythe suggested that “some people don’t like the term ‘assault rifle’. Ok, cool-why don’t we have call them ‘Kid Killers’ then?

“Are the students who survived the massacre in Florida and who are publicly begging us, the adults … for gun law reform ‘politicizing’ the whole thing?” Read the full post here.

While it seems incredulous that people should argue with Blythe’s reasoning, the post will no doubt only give reason for further divide on the issue in the community, with lobbyists continuing to call for more guns to help restore order.

Given the state of affairs, there is little to no doubt Mr Blythe will have more reason to refer to the post in the future, but a single voice of reason is better than none.
