DEAD OF WINTER // The Freaky Festival Fave Is Back

Dead Of Winter returns this July, for another huge installment on the festival calendar as the biggest day for metal, rock, punk and ska in Queensland takes over not just the Jubilee, but in 2018 expands to also include The Tivoli.

After a sold out event in 2017 the organisers behind Dead Of Winter have made the call to grow the Festival in its ninth year and on 7th July 2018 the ‘Attack of the Two-Headed Beast’ will hit Brisbane.

“We knew we had to expand the event, but we still wanted to keep the intimate vibe of the Festival, so this year we have added two stages at The Tivoli. It was the perfect choice because it is only 300 metres from the Jubilee and a much loved Brisbane venue. It opens up the size and scope of artists we can stage and will be a big step up for the event. Metal will also now be moved out of the upstairs room at the Jube onto a larger stage,” Carolyn Bedford, the head of Dead Of Winter explains.

The Festival has seen bands like The Bennies, The Meanies, Portal, The Berzerker, King Parrot, Clowns, Astriaal, Area 7 and Tumbleweed feature on past line-ups so there is no doubt—with headliners already locked in for 2018—that it will be one of the biggest yet. Hysteria will also have an exclusive announcement on the first line-up announcement in coming weeks.

Dead Of Winter also aims at bridging the gender gap in festival offerings, and last year the line-up showcased an incredible 40% of acts with at least one member identifying as female or non-binary, a figure rarely seen in heavy music events internationally.

The Festival will also continue to feature the quality burlesque and horror cabaret acts found in the Freak Show Alley with the market stalls and food trucks coming back to join the party once again.

Get keen, because 2018 is shaping up to be the biggest Dead Of Winter yet!

Bands: If you are a local Brisbane band that wishes to be considered for the festival, applications are now open through the Dead Of Winter website which can be found here.
Tickets: On sale on Monday 5th March through Ticketmaster and the first line-up announcement will be made via Hysteria soon.
