PREMIERE: ORDER OF OWLS // Pull No Punches On New Single “Freedom(ination)”

Alt-rock up-and-comers Order of Owls have powered all the way up on their epic new single, Freedom(ination).

MORE: NOFX: Fat Mike and his Eternal Footwaer Gratitude REVIEWS: POLARIS: Fatalism // THY ART IS MURDER: Godlike // C.O.F.F.I.N // Australia Stops // HYRO THE HERO: Bound For Glory // TEENAGE WRIST: Still Love

Taking cues from the 90s, it’s gritty, riffy and groovy. It also champions a striking but consistent melodic structure and a whole lot of reverb.

Accompanying the track is an equally gritty music video, filled with darker lighting and scenes of the band performing.

“The concept behind Freedom(ination) sinks deeper than what would be made apparent in what you’ll see and hear. On a surface level, it’s a cautionary tale of compromising your values in the face of adversity. The five of us have spent the majority of our lives learning to not mask who we are so others are comfortable. We’re in a constant cycle of learning, refining, forgetting and repeating. These cycles put us in positions where we fly and falter, but the ultimate lesson learned is that shame gate keeps the ability to embrace who you truly are,” says the Melbourne-based band.

“Beyond that surface level lies what manifests Order Of Owls itself. Embracing what we’re becoming together and pooling those strengths to create something bigger than us. This grants us an incredible amount of flexibility where we espouse DIY as a core trait. The track was self-recorded, edited, mixed and mastered. The music video was self-directed, shot, edited and graded. We’re not afraid to learn anything else that might pop up, and we’re not in the business of compromising our values in the face of adversity.”

Order of Owls will celebrate the release of Freedom(ination) with a hometown show at Stay Gold on October 21st. They’ll be joined by Reign Maker, Centralia and Tongue Biter

Despite only joining forces this year, the members of Order of Owls have racked up years of touring experience all around the globe, supporting the likes of At The Gates, Soilwork and Trivium in past projects.

Freedom(ination) will be available to stream tomorrow. In the meantime, you can give it a spin right here – grab some tickets to their upcoming show while you’re at it.
