Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
There’s one reason to get excited about this time of year—it might be cold, the bulk of the public holidays may have passed, but that sweet, sweet lump sum payment is coming and it’s called your Tax Return.
If, like us, you’re getting taxed to hell during the financial year then this is the time for you to cash in. (Thanks for nothing Government!) And what better way to celebrate your newly found funds than an online shopping spree for all your alternative goodies.
Here is Hysteria’s buying guide: shit to buy with your 2018 tax return!
State Champs: Living Proof Bundles
You might remember just how much everyone here at Hysteria was digging Living Proof, the latest album to drop from pop punk lads State Champs. So naturally, when we discovered these bundles we knew we needed to get one (or ten)!

Dye Hard Coloured Styling Gel
Now this is seriously cool! Since my hair-colour-changing days (rip the high paying job that afforded me the luxury of monthly salon visits) I’ve been looking for a good alternative to temporary hair colours. My hair is super dark naturally so that temp colour won’t work, and hair chalk is too messy. This styling gel though gives me actual vibrant colour and I can do a bunch of cool styles with the gel’s hold.

Dye Hard by Manic Panic
Gas Mask Bong
Hello stoner friends—haven’t forgotten about you lot! This is more for novelty rather than anything else. As cool as it is being a Stormtrooper while you’re smoking up, it’d be a bitch to clean.

Halloween Hysteria Festival Tickets
Obviously this has to be top of the list! The first ever Halloween Hysteria Festival hits Brisbane’s Jubilee Hotel in October. There will be bands, booze and B-grade costumes as Fortitude Valley becomes the meeting place for wicked music lovers. Check out the line-up below if you’re not already convinced. Tickets are $50 + booking fees from Oztix.

Coffin Cosmetic Case
Okay when it comes to makeup and other stereotypically girly obsessions, I really don’t take too much notice. For me, makeup is the mini mascara I received in a value pack once and some powder from Coles. Nonetheless, if I were the type of girl to stash an impressive cosmetic collection, I would 100% be keeping them in this cutie!

Drop Dead X Jurassic Park
HOLY SHIT MY DREAM COME TRUE! Anyone that’s spent more than an hour talking to me knows that I have a serious interest (borderline obsession) with dinosaurs and, in turn, the Jurassic movies. Seriously, the first time I watched Jurassic Park I was two years old and I told everyone it was my favourite movie. Needless to say a collab between JP and DD has got me so excited and the collection so far looks mint!

50th Anniversary 1968 Les Paul Guitar
Les Paul is indisputably one of the most influential people in guitar engineering history. A part of that reason being just how damn gorgeous his guitars are! Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of his 1968 classic design with a model of your very own.

Classic Vinyl
Vinyl have definitely transitioned into that “will never be too old to be cool” section of consumerism. Something about vinyl has kept them popular since they were introduced back when a bloke called Victor saw an Edison wax cylinder while eating pancakes … and the rest was history. If you’re lucky enough to have your own record player, you’re going to love the vast selection of records available through Vinyl Destination. Want something harder? Try the lads at Nerve Gas instead!

TC Electronic Polytune 2 Clip-On Guitar Tuner
Instead of having to shush everyone at your jam session so you can tune your guitar, invest in a clip-on guitar tuner. The clip-on tunes your guitar, uke, bass, whatever, using the vibrations on the fretboard, rather than listening for the pitch. No one wants to break the organic flow of music so this is a great tool for any groups of musicians.

Lemmy Memorial Rocks Glass Set
Look it’s only been two years and seven months since Lemmy left and we’re still grieving okay?! But all that aside, what a cool way to honour a true rock legend—by getting absolutely shit-faced with glasses made in his tribute.

Weed-Opoly Board Game
Pretty much Monopoly, except because everyone playing is already stoned no one gets angry or throws the table. Chill-Opoly.
