Hard Hitting!

Considering Bloom are seen as the kings of melodic post-hardcore within Australia, no one was expecting their newest single Bound To Your Whispers to go as hard as it does, but we’re here for it.

Not only is Bound To Your Whispers one of the most attention-grabbing songs that the Sydney-siders have released to date, it’s also one of their most ambitious, with the group’s newest single seeing Bloom expanding on their iconic sound through a slew of new soundscapes.

It’s spiteful, abrasive, dissonant, tech-heavy and a far cry from the group’s debut, In Passing, which cut its teeth on emotive storytelling and melodic instrumentation. Instead, Bound To Your Whispers sees the emerging outfit lean more into the realm of metalcore, with their newest single boasting crushing breakdowns, chugging post-hardcore riffs and early emo inspired clean choruses. But it doesn’t lose its integrity, with lead vocalist and lyricist Jono Hawkey writing as candidly and emotively as ever as he depicts a tale of decline as one succumbs to their own negative thoughts.

Sonically narrated with blazing vocal deliveries and melodic, heavy-hitting instrumentation, Bloom’s latest single conjures an emotional listen until its final heartbeat.

Sonically narrated with blazing vocal deliveries and melodic, heavy-hitting instrumentation, Bloom’s latest single conjures an emotional listen until its final heartbeat. And it’s one that’ll hit home for many, with Hawkey’s evolved style of emotional narration drilling in the song’s message like never before. To put it in perspective, if ‘In Passing’ was ‘I’m not mad, I’m just dissapointed,’ Bound To Your Whispers is the bloke taking his shirt off in the carpark ready to square off. It’s a single that has something to say, and it doesn’t waste any time in delivering its malicious and provocative message.
