AUSSIE KNOTFEST RUMBLINGS // Did Slipknot Let Slip Australian Knotfest News?

It’s a great week for Australian Maggots, with the legendary Slipknot unleashing a delectable teaser with the extremely hopeful message: “(Australian Flag Emoji)Maggots. Soon ….”.

Accompanying the post is a very short but potentially promising cryptic video, and fans have all but spontaneously combusted at the notion the group could be imminently about to confirm at long last an Aussie edition of Knotfest.

For those not in the know, Knotfest first started back in 2012, the brainchild of Slipknot themselves offering a heavy music event for the ages that has journeyed to the States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Mexico and beyond – but, as of yet, the iconic festival has never made an appearance in Australia.

It’s been an extremely red-hot minute since Slipknot were last on our shores, and with their recent album The End, So Far hitting #1 here in Australia upon release; chances are looking very promising that the group will not only be heading our way in the not-too-distant future, but the inclusion of the iconic Knotfest tent in the teaser video and accompanying link visuals also bodes well that we could be getting way more bang for our Slipknot buck when they finally head back our way in 2023.

In multiple interviews of late, the nine-piece have repeatedly (and cagily) hinted at a possible Aussie jaunt on the cards, and this latest monster tease has all but confirmed a long held dream come true for all the faithful Australian maggots.

With lineups spanning over the years including, of course, Slipknot themselves alongside Deftones, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Testament, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage and an insane array of others, it’s anyone’s guess who may join the Australian debut for the festival (that is, if we are even correct in interpreting this cryptic announcement). At the very least, 2023 is set to bring some insanely good times for all heavy music fans.

Watch this space for more updates, and go spin The End, So Far to calm you down in the meantime.
