ALEXISONFIRE // Crisis Averted, Our Favourite Canucks Are Finally Back

This is not a drill! Alexisonfire are back with an absolute belter of a new track, Familiar Drugs.

Having broken hearts around the world in 2011 when they announced their breakup, the band have since reunited for a string of shows (including a massive appearance at our very own UNIFY festival in 2017).

Despite this, the track is their first release under the Alexisonfire banner in almost TEN years. It was produced by the only band ever, long-time friend Karl Bareham and mixed by Jacquire King (who’s got a Grammy win under his belt, no big deal).

Speaking about the song, frontman George Pettit says:

Familiar Drugs is about recognising you need to make a change in your life, being presented with the opportunity to make that change, and then choosing to do the same thing you always do. It’s about something very specific to me but it can be taken literally or interpreted in any number of ways.”

Going on to explain further, he added:

Most people have something in their lives they can’t quit: substances, unhealthy relationships, lethargy, self-righteousness, a job they hate. Familiar Drugs is about choosing comfort over self-betterment.”

In conjunction with the new music, Alexisonfire have also announced a special live stream performance from the House of Strombo in Toronto. The set will feature the new track, and the choicest cuts from their back catalogue. Streaming is kicking off right now and you can watch it right here!

If all that wasn’t enough the Canucks have also announced the release of a special vinyl pressing, now available for pre-order. Along with the 7”, Alexisonfire have dropped some snazzy new threads which you can purchase at their official storefront (Our bank balances are weeping already).

Stream/Purchase Familiar Drugs here.
