Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Evergreener is Australia’s answer to Basement, and they’re back with a brand new track.

It’s called Sinking, and it basks in an angstier, grungier ambience than their first single, Deciduous, did.
It’s also seen the band’s creative energy run wild, featuring a punishing blend of punk, post-hardcore, and the aforementioned 90s-soaked sound.
And while it certainly packs a punch with its inclusion of a breakdown and harsher vocals, it’s just as hard-hitting lyrically. The band shed some light on the concept of the track in a statement:
“The song Sinking takes a darker approach than the previous single, Deciduous, as it describes the feeling of being trapped in a place where you’re living your life through someone else, unable to control your actions and thoughts while feeling paralysed in your own body.”
It’s a concept that’s carried through to the track’s music video. Shot in a dark room, the clip sees the band amidst empty picture frames, a glowing red light bulb and tv static, really building up the sense of anxiety and confinement.
Excitingly, it won’t be long till we hear more from the Naarm natives. Their debut EP, After Thoughts, is set to drop on November 18th, just a few weeks from now!
Evergreener recently played a show with Bad Neighbour. They also supported Snark at their single launch show at the iconic Cherry Bar. With the announcement of new music, we’re hoping more tour dates are on the way!
