UNSUNG HEROES // Hands Like Houses on Canberra’s Ones To Watch

hands like houses canberra

After a European tour with metalcore heavyweights Of Mice & Men, Canberra’s Hands Like Houses will embark on their biggest national headline tour yet, the Colourblind Australian Tour.

The alternative-rock quintet will visit Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne in early 2017, all warmed up from a string of international tour dates.

A combination of infectious pop choruses and eruptive breakdowns earned the outfit a #7 ARIA Album Chart placing for their most recent record, Dissonants.

Hands Like Houses are twice veterans of Warped Tour, and have toured the world with acts like A Day To Remember, Sleeping With Sirens, The Amity Affliction, Memphis May Fire, and Enter Shikari.

Never one to forget where it all began for the band, guitarist Alex Pearson shed light on his ones to watch in Australia’s capital, Canberra.

Foreign Kings

“These lads played a show with us recently and we were blown away. They have a fantastic throwback vibe to just straight up dirty rock n roll; loud guitars, ripper solos interspersed with vocal seduction makes sure that the crowd is always jamming! It’s definitely a plus that we are both VB enthusiasts.”

Young Monks

“This is one of our good friends’ bands and they perfectly encapsulate the feeling of an endless summer. Whenever we’re listening to their tunes we’ve always got a smile cause it’s just so damn infectious. If you’re in to some smooth reggae mixed with a dash of surf-rock then grab a coconut, crack it open and get some Young Monks in your ears!”

Safia

“These lads aren’t entirely unsung but they have such fantastic tunes and are Canberra lads like ourselves, so it’s hard to not give them a shout out. Their vocalist, Ben, has arguably one of the most arousing male voices floating around today. Really keen to see how far the boys can push it for the capital!”
