TOYAH CORDINGLY R.I.P. // The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Tribute Song After Death Of Queensland Woman

TOYAH CORDINGLY

On the afternoon of Sunday 21st October, Toyah Cordingley had gone for a walk with her dog along Wangetti Beach, Cairns, Queensland—not an unusual activity for the 24-year-old pharmacy worker, it was something she did regularly. Only that day, she didn’t come home.

On Monday 22nd October, a day after she was reported missing, Toyah’s lifeless body was discovered in the sand dunes of the beach. She had been killed.

Her killer remains at large.

After police launched a fresh appeal in the hunt for Toyah’s killer, in a heartbreaking televised statement released yesterday Toyah’s mother, Vanessa Gardener, said she ‘has not accepted the horror’ of her daughter’s murder.

Police are now appealing for people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area on the day Toyah went missing to come forward. As Toyah was an avid music fan, the Australian music industry has rallied together to raise awareness of this tragedy and to find her killer.

Toyah’s favourite song was Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, who begin their Australian tour on 29th November. The band’s Australian publicist, John Howarth, was contacted and told that the song was often referred to as Toyah’s Song by her family and friends. After Howarth contacted the band regarding this tragedy, vocalist Ronnie Winters agreed to dedicate this song to the memory of Toyah at each of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ Australian shows.

Winters has also created a new lyric video for Your Guardian Angel, the band pinning the story behind it. You can watch the new lyric video below.

The brand new lyric video for Your Guardian Angel is being shared across multiple platforms and music publications around the country as Queensland police continue their investigation, and Toyah’s family try to continue with their lives and remember this wonderful young woman.

If you have any information at all regarding the death of Toyah Cordingley please contact Crime Stoppers immediately on: 1800 333 000.
