THY ART IS MURDER // To release third album, Holy War, this June

THY ART IS MURDER fans, the (ridiculously) long wait is over. The hellraising Sydney-siders are set to release their third album Holy War on June 26 in Australia/Europe, followed by the June 29 and 30 in the UK and North America respectively.

Following on from their breakthrough sophomore release Hate in 2012—which peaked at #35 on the Aria charts—the band have been touring tirelessly around the world with a total of 342(!) tour dates in support of the album. This also included playing in the US more times in a two year period than any other Australian band in any genre of music period. Oh lordy: it’s tiring to even look at that sentence, let alone live it.
They’d be forgiven for putting their feet up at this point, but the band revealed today that Holy War was recorded in secret last year during their insane tour schedule. Guitarist Andrew Marsh stated on the band’s Facebook page announcement that the album would be “darker, faster and more technical than anything [they’ve] done in the past and it hits hard lyrically.” Never ones to back away from truth in their lyrics, the band have declared war on what makes them “feel sick to be alive”. “This is our war on racism, homophobia, child abuse, animal cruelty and all evil born of religious immunity, indoctrination, and ignorance.”

“I’ve been told to not talk about it, but I don’t give a fuck anymore. I’m gonna call all these people out. I’ll say what the fuck I want.”

[CJ McMahon]

Fittingly, vocalist CJ McMahon is also unafraid to call out those who’ve personally wronged the band. “We’ve lost half a million dollars. Where did it go?” Asks the intimidating front man. That money lined the pockets of managers, labels, parasites—all lost while TAIM weren’t paying attention. “I’ve been told to not talk about it, but I don’t give a fuck anymore. I’m gonna call all these people out. I’ll say what the fuck I want.” In Hysteria’s upcoming April issue, CJ exclusively explains why people are afraid of new laws when the old ones are so frightening, the pressure of mental illness and being let off the music industry chain that has choked Thy Art Is Murder for years. Thy Art Is Murder are at the forefront of Australian metal, and Holy War is guaranteed to be the band’s most frightening release yet.//
