Australian emo/metalcore band, Stepson, returns with their powerful single, Discover Lonely, showcasing a more aggressive side of them while staying true to their signature sound.

The track reflects the band’s artistic maturity, combining emotional depth with newfound intensity. In a departure from their ‘sadboy’ reputation, Stepson explores darker tones both musically and lyrically, expressing frustration and providing a cathartic experience for fans.

The song, produced by Callan Orr of Avalanche Studios, delves into themes of inner turmoil and self-reflection, marking a departure from their earlier heartbroken image. The lyrics, exemplified by the line “I feel nothing like you”, convey a sense of disconnection explored throughout the song. The accompanying music video, directed by Chris Zagas, adds depth to the narrative, enhancing the overall impact and complementing Stepson’s refined musical expression.

Discover Lonely represents a milestone in Stepson’s musical journey, solidifying their position as a formidable presence in the heavy music scene. The release not only pushes artistic boundaries but also invites listeners to embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation alongside the band.

The quintet will also be taking Discover Lonely on the road, playing 7 shows throughout April, playing in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney and Brisbane. The tour will be a return to more intimate venues, where Stepson will revisit spaces not seen in years, delivering an immersive experience for fans.

Riding high on the success of their 2021 debut album, Help Me, Help You, and the impactful 2022 single Eraser, Stepson has conquered two triumphant national headlining tours and provided support to Australian heavyweights like likes of Northlane and Ocean Sleeper across the nation. Their achievements also secured them highly sought-after spots at prestigious festivals such as Unify Gathering and Full Tilt. Venturing beyond their home turf, Stepson toured Europe, sharing stages with Polaris, Alpha Wolf, and Great American Ghost. With these experiences under their belt, the band is now in peak form, poised to deliver an electrifying performance that will undoubtedly leave fans in awe.

As Stepson unveils this new era, they will be joined by long-time friends, Sydney metalcore tyrants Heists, bringing their own brand of unique intensity to the tour. Also joining the ranks of support for the Discover Lonely Tour are Brisbane’s own Upsetter, adding their cathartic blend of shoegaze and emo to the lineup.
