PREMIERE: WHORETOPSY // Waltzing Matilda ‘The Most Bogan Song Possible’

Whoretopsy, those lovable rascals, have just unleashed their latest film clip for the single Waltzing Matilda, off of their September 2018 release Take My Breath Away.

Featuring junk-eating crocs, cameos from some of Melbourne’s metal royalty and all the death metal slam you can handle, our favourite pot-stirring rascals really got creative with the theme of this track. Check it out below.

The clip, set in a random Aussie pub west of Melbourne, kicks off with all-round bad arse Olivia Reppas as she bursts into the venue screaming about crocs taking her kids. From there, Ben Roberts (Hollow World) takes on the role of the ‘hero’, but his bid to take down the croc ends rather badly and he subsequently loses his mind. From the moment you hit play, it doesn’t take long for the brutality to kick in, and for Whoretopsy to pummel you with their bid to add new meaning to the classic Aussie anthem name.

Drummer Jake Sproule had the original idea for the track, which he wanted to be ‘the most bogan song possible’, and it didn’t take long for the rest of the band to get on board with it.

“I watched Crocodile Dundee and I was making stuff up, and I thought ‘how funny would it be if it [the croc] hit him [Dundee] on the dick and the film ended’. I just went deeper into that story, then the band brought in their contributions and we just tried to make the most bogan song possible, which we had to name Waltzing Matilda, to keep it as Aussie as possible,” explains Sproule.

Whoretopsy will be taking Waltzing Matilda, among other hits from the new album, on the road in the next few weeks as they headline not one, but two inaugural mini-fests. First up is Ballarat on January 26th for the Blaze Music festival where they will share the stage with Desecrator, Hadal Maw, Encircling Sea, Darker Half (NSW) Dreadnaught, Frankenbok, Southeast Desert Metal (NT) and many more. Tickets for this one are only $35 and it promises to be a massive day of metal at Karova Lounge. Don’t miss out.

Then Whoretopsy journey to Brisbane to play Night Of The Living Shred at The Brightside on 9 February. Alongside Whoretopsy this lineup features A Night In Texas, I Shall Devour, Darkc3ll, Wraith, Puncture Wound and more. Tickets are selling pretty quickly to this one as well, so if you’re one of the Brisbane fans still pissed about them being unable to play Halloween Hysteria 2018, you’d best secure yours today, or forever lament being totally lame.
