Melbourne’s melodic death metal plague vendors Hollow World are celebrating the highly exclusive re-release of first EP Beneath The Frozen Sky with a video for The Rose of Rancid Petals. (Watch below)
Given a new coat of polish with bass and guitars re-tracked using Ormsby Guitars, and remixing and remastering by Chris Themelco (Orpheus Omega, Myridian, Thoricane) at Monolith Studios.
This will be a limited edition release, celebrating the EP’s fifth anniversary.
The track also tracks in current vocalist Ben Roberts alongside his predecessor Karl Steller, added as a bonus for long-time fans.
According to the band, “Roberts spent the better part of 2017 dealing with his inner demons, and conceptually, he tied the track into the original theme of the EP by reintroducing the dark, undead temptress manifestation of Bella from the track Wychbury Hill. Bella became the final piece of the puzzle, tying the track to the EP as he wrote about her as a final temptation who flirts with the subject of the song, trying to coerce them into ending their life.”
“It basically focuses on the idea that when you are in a really bad place like that, that suicide can be quite tempting,” says Roberts. “So it’s a song about flirting with the idea of suicide. It’s not something that we have really touched on in Hollow World before. I mean we have some songs that go to pretty dark places, but it’s not been something that has been as personal as this one has been for me.”
The re-release is set to drop on 26th October, with pre-orders available from Hollow World’s website now. Pre-orders will close on 21st October.
They’ll be supporting the re-release throughout November and December with a run of east coast shows with Ame Noire. See the dates below, tickets are available now.
