Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Sydney’s self-described thrash-funk trio BREIZERS have dropped their first single, Darlin’, taken from their yet-to-be titled eight-track album. Chuck a squizzo, belizzo:
It’s their first foray into new music since 2016’s acclaimed Killjoy. According to a statement, the band were “locked away in an old church for weeks and months on end, the track is bound to have you grooving long before the smooth and sultry lyrics even hit you.” How do I make this my Tinder song?
You may have caught BREIZERS FEVER at 2017’s King Street Crawl, Spaced Out at Hibernian House (run by Sittin’ Pretty in 2017) and/or last year’s The Suburban Series Volume 2 in Brisbane. They’ve also hosted cancer fundraiser gigs, raising over $4,000. They’ve also supported acts such as Thunder Fox, The Delta Riggs, and The Dandelion.
Who are BREIZERS? Well, the PR copy is so compelling, we’re actually going to rip it off:
“Described similar to a hard kiss on the lips, listening to BREIZERS is like looking down at your shoes to find your laces are undone but realising they look better like that anyway. Coherent exuberance. With emphasis on coherence because without that they would be a pastel coloured blur on any Spotify recommend list. Without the grounding coherence of the band on stage it was as if you would walk into the bathroom, trip and fall into the trough and promptly tie your laces back up. Energy without that coherence is just energy, but together it’s much more than the sum of its parts.” Boom.
In human form, BREIZERS are Lucas Cavanagh (drums & vocals), Mason MacKenzie Wood (guitar & vocals), John Tyerman (bass & vocals).
The threesome will support the single with a thirteen-date east coast tour; dates below.
