OPETH // Release New Single, ‘Sorceress’

Svensk prog titans Opeth have released the title track from upcoming album Sorceress, due for a 30 September release. See the lyric video below:

The single premiered on RollingStone.com along with an interview with mainman Mikael Åkerfeldt. “Here you go kids! Here’s the title track, Sorceress, combined with the now obligatory lyric video. Why not, eh? We’re happy with the tune. It’s heavy, a bit “meat and potato,” but what the hell … we love it! Hope you do too!,” he says in a statement.

The band recorded the song in the legendary yet isolated Rockfield Studios in Wales.

Basically the studio is a farm: There’s horses and stables and shit like that.

“That environment in Monmouth, in Wales, I could go there as a tourist just to relax,” Åkerfeldt told Rolling Stone. “They should have a spa there—it’s really beautiful. Basically the studio is a farm: There’s horses and stables and shit like that. It’s really peaceful. You can take a 20 minute walk into town, which is more like a village, where there’s a couple of pubs, so you can have a pint of beer or whatever. Other than that, it’s just really quiet and peaceful, which really works for us as a band. I don’t think we work all that well in the city, even though we have recorded a couple of records in the city center. We’ve found our home, I think, with Rockfield Studios. Besides, it’s got the legendary records done there, the Queen records and Rush and whatever, you know.”

Pre-orders for the album are available via Nuclear Blast.
