“My life has been through a lot of change in the last year, and all of it has pushed me to be my best creatively,” says Illy, “Sony Music was the best place for me and my music, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Denis Handlin, CEO of Sony Music Australia and New Zealand, says Illy is “an incredibly talented, compelling and authentic artist, who always reinvents and challenges himself so that he is constantly pushing boundaries with his music.”

Illy was a member of rap group Crooked Eye before releasing his solo debut Long Story Short in 2009. Lead singles Generation Y and Pictures were on Triple J national rotation, and Illy went on his first tour in 2010. Later that year, he went on national tour with rappers 360 and Skryptcha.

Illy followed up with The Chase (2010), Bring It Back (2012), Cinematic (2013) and Two Degrees (2016). Two Degrees was an enormous success, debuting at #1 on the ARIA charts. Illy toured the country three times and won Best Live Act at the 2017 ARIA Awards off the back of Two Degrees. Illy performed more than fifty shows across the country as part of the tour. Lead singles Papercut feat. Vera Blue and Catch 22 feat. Anne-Marie both went platinum.
