Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Sludge masters Briqueville are currently streaming their second album, II, ahead of its release on Friday 29 September.
If you are into sludgy, instrumentals with outbursts of pure heaviness that are full of atmospheric noise and combined with eery samples and field recordings, you should check out the new Briqueville album now.
The mask wearing, Nazgûl-robe clad Belgians have always had an extremely mysterious air about them. When Briqueville met over ten years ago they decided on keeping their anonymity by donning the masks and robes, which are even worn in rehearsal, to ensure the audience was 100% focused on the music.
To continue the mystery and to keep their fan base enthusiastic, Briqueville opted for a rather unique way to release their debut album. The band buried twenty copies of I around Europe, slowly releasing GPS coordinates over their social media, motivating fans to find and dig them up. And it seems that they are revisiting this idea for their second release, so keep an eye out on their socials for details.
Briqueville have also released a video for the first single, Akte VI, which you can check out below:
