HARD NOISE: 36 CRAZYFISTS // Return With New Single & ‘Lantern’ LP

36 crazyfists

Fortunately, Senator Sarah Palin isn’t the only interesting thing to come out of the isle of Alaska, with crossover quartet 36 Crazyfists making just as much, if not more noise than anyone else in the public eye.

With over 20 years of live shows on the road and seven LP’s under their belt, the band are some of the more seasoned metallers still making an impact, and thankfully they’re in the form of their lives with the release of new single Death Eater.

Kicking off with frontman’s Brock Lindow’s trademark roar, the song thrashes away relentlessly before hitting a head-banging, anthemic chorus.

36 Crazyfists display both aggression and maturity with their newest work, consistent with their early career. They impart an exciting freshness that speaks volumes for the record to come. Stream the track via Soundcloud below.

Alternating nicely between passages of melodic energy and shrieked aggression, two decades of performing have done nothing to hinder Lindow, displaying a raw and unique vocal talent rarely seen in the metal community.

Speaking on the sound, Lindow notes that “It’s a reflection of self and the dwellings of rock bottom, discovering the tools to dig yourself out, and refusing to let yourself free fall into the abyss of hopelessness.”

When some of these older bands try to turn up the gas late in their career and maintain a perceived ‘edge’ things start to feel a little bit lame (looking right at you, Coal Chamber).

Death Eater is the first single off Lantern, 36 Crazyfist’s forthcoming eighth record.

Speaking further to Loudwire on the album, Lindow notes how a positive mindset has shaped the record, stating that “Lanterns really is about the fight within us all — that within us that forever refuses to sink.”

Lanterns drops 29 September via Spinefarm Records.
