Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Hot on the heels of a career-defining 18 months, Canberra heavy exports Hands Like Houses are back with a new single and their biggest headline tour to date.
Heavy, brooding and powerful, new cut Drift sees the band following a similar trajectory to 2015’s critically acclaimed LP Dissonance.
Speaking on the new single, frontman Trenton Woodley reveals that the song reflects finding a connection in the midst of the chaos of life. “Drift is a momentary lapse in momentum,” Trenton says, with the lyrical themes exploring “where everything is still long enough to question where you’re going, where you’ve been and how they are somehow supposed to connect in the middle. “
Whilst thematically the song may explore a lack of movement, it’s hardly reflected in the music. Their newest features the band’s trademark crushing half-time grooves, distortion-laden riffage and a god-almighty breakdown that erupts from the melodic chaos of the chorus.
Hands Like Houses aren’t here to experiment- they are putting the foot to the floor and keeping the intensity at a maximum. The band have also signed to Hopeless Records alongside their original partnership with UNFD for all their future releases. Fans will be able to catch the song live (and hopefully some more new material) on their upcoming headline tour in October.
Given their last headline tour of the country saw shows sell out up to four months in advance, we advise you to get in quick for these beauties and grab tickets here!
