EARTH CALLER // Announce New Album ‘Crystal Death’

Merchants of heaviness from the 613, Earth Caller, have announced their second full length Crystal Death for a 19th of January release through Entertainment One. You can watch Fall feat. Sophie Jest below:

Crystal Death was produced, mixed and mastered by producer Beau McKee and assistant engineered by Kris Samos* at Oaklands Recording Studios. This follows up 2015’s acclaimed Degenerate album.

Earth Caller signed with major label juggernauts Entertainment One (Snoop Dogg, The Game, Zakk Wylde, Unearth), with Crystal Death being their first label release.

“Lyrically this album is far more personal and emotional,” says frontman Josh Collard in a statement. “Sonically it’s heavier, faster and more melodic. The band has never been more proud of a body of work than we are of this album and judging by the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve already received when we perform new material live—it appears the fans are into too!”

“For me—making music has always been and always will be about helping people and while the mission remains the same, my thoughts on how I’d like to achieve that has definitely evolved. As have I.”

Collard also explains the story behind first single Fall.

“This song is about a bit of a messy break up I had and the process of how it came to unfold,” says Collard. “I was a bit of a mess myself at the time and more or less realised that we were both guilty of similar things which is why Sophie Jest (who features on the track and in the videoclip) sings the chorus back at me in the bridge”.

“Since the release of Degenerate I’ve gone through so much and experienced so many new things and from that I’ve grown. I’ve had a pretty chequered past, I won’t deny that.

“All I’d known was fighting. Literally fighting because of the choices I’d made for my life, then after that it was fighting my way out of depression, then it was facing and fighting my demons. Then eventually it was fighting to make my dream a reality. Then EC started popping, it was the first truly good thing that I’d done in years but because I’d been fighting for so long I couldn’t tell that the fight was over. I have many regrets.

“Crystal Death is a story about the eternal war within ourselves. It’s light for the dark. Hope for the hopeless. I’m very proud of what we’ve made and my hope is that our fans will get as much out of listening to it as I got out of making it.”

Degenerate debuted at #6 on the AIR charts, beating out ARIA winners King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard for the top debut of the week. They also received much airplay on both terrestrial and digital radio, as well as TV.

Europe’s Impericon named Earth Caller among their top 10 Australian bands, slotting Degenerate into their top 15 releases of 2015.
