CROSSFAITH // Premiere New Album ‘Xeno’

Hysteria, in association with UNFD, are proud to premiere Xeno, the new album from Japanese multi-core electro-metallers Crossfaith. Listen below:

Xeno is the much anticipated follow up to 2013’s Apocolyze set to drop 18 September. It’s also their first release for UNFD in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom. Metal stalwart Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb Of God, Hatebreed) produced the new record, with mastered handled by Ted Jensen. The new album also features guest spots from Caleb Shomo (Beartooth) and Benji Webbe (Skindred, Dub War.)

According to a statement, “Xeno is a story of hope, failure, love, betrayal and death woven into its fabric so skilfully it’s impossible to tell where truth ends and fiction begins. It’s both an escape from and an examination of reality that reveals more truths the further it delves. It’s an artistic endeavour like few others, with roots in manga, anime and the furthest reaches of its creators’ minds. Frontman Kenta ‘Ken’ Koie, guitarist Kazuki Takemura, bassist Hiroki ‘Hiro’ Ikegawa, keyboardist Terufumi ‘Teru’ Tamano and drummer Tatsuya Amano are, quite simply, operating on a different level.”

In the upcoming September issue of Hysteria, Kenta Koie says “[Crossfaith is] the only Japanese band touring around the world on tours like Warped and our music style is very very unique. We’re so different from others, and we don’t want to make a song that sounds like the others. We want to be an original band.”

Crossfaith’s uniqueness is kindred with Aussie moshers, having played Soundwave Festival in 2013 & 2015, and joined Bring Me The Horizon and Of Mice and Men Down Under in 2013. We described their Soundwave Festival 2015 performance as “[E]xperiencing every gnarly party you’ve ever been to all at once.”
