CHURCH // Crowbar Arts Space Officially Opens

While we all love rocking out at live gigs, there’s an equal thrill to enveloping yourself into an exhilarating and thought-provoking art installation.

But are you getting bored of the same old same old that’s on at GoMA each month? Well we’ve got some good news for you courtesy of the gang at Crowbar Brisbane!

Located in the heart of Brisbane’s party scene Fortitude Valley, Crowbar has been the go-to place for notoriously awesome vibes since 2012. It’s hosted a string of jaw-dropping acts including Violent Soho, The Smith Street Band, The Bennies and High On Fire, just to name a few.

Known for being Brisbane’s undisputed home of the heavy, Crowbar are ready to introduce their seriously slick but decidedly dark new creative space; CHURCH.

Complementing the tough as nails aesthetic of the rest of the Crowbar venue, CHURCH is an equally unique and sophisticated function space. The venue will be a source for art exhibitions, pop-up shows, and functions.

“Our team all love the arts just as much as live music and a freshly shaken drink… so it makes sense.” says the curator for the CHURCH space, Megan Starr-Thomas. “This space will raise the standards of what can happen in one night, in one building”.

Kicking off the venue’s line up is Brisbane music photography Matt Walter (nee Warrell), who is launching his epic ‘No Pits, Just Pits‘ exhibition. The exhibition at CHURCH begins this Wednesday 6 September from 6pm.

Already have plans for Wednesday? Never fear! The show will run through to 10 September, open 12pm – 5pm, Tuesday to Friday.

You can find more information on the event here, or swing by and check it out for yourself. Just walk in through Crowbar Black and head down to the gallery.
