Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Chuck Ragan: Till Midnight
(Ten To Two/SideOneDummy)
Chuck Ragan’s fourth full length is a distinct avowal of organic Americana, the type that’s only achievable from the preeminent backing of the Camaraderie. The production score is too large to list in its entirety but to credit just two, it’s got guys from Awolnation and Foo Fighters. A huckster of acoustic-folk under the moniker Rumbleseat began in the late ’90s as a side-project for Gainesville greats, Hot Water Music. The singer-songwriting is familiar territory and so is writing books and laying down soundtracks for the talented troubadour. Non Typical and Vagabond embody the characteristics of love and wayfaring which are the record’s primary themes. They coalesce to form real life human emotion. Till Midnight is a vessel of just that, but outdoors; a dogma and a paradox of the road less travelled that has been taken a hundred times over.
