BRING ME THE HORIZON // Release Third Track From Upcoming Album

Following the release of Mantra and Wonderful Life, Bring Me The Horizon have released a third song from their upcoming sixth studio album amo called Medicine.

There’s enough new material from the band now to start piecing together what the new album will sound like when it drops 25th January this year and, just like That’s The Spirit before it, amo seems to be continuing the band’s trend of heading towards a more radio-friendly rock sound.

This shouldn’t be all that surprising given the success of the band’s fourth album Sempiternal which, aside being Bring Me The Horizon’s first release not to feature more heavy screams, was both a critical and commercial success and ultimately has set the course for the band’s future releases.

Bring Me The Horizon are definitely not in the days of Count Your Blessings anymore, and as the release of new song Medicine has shown, the band has become more divisive with each release.

To say some fans are disappointed would be an understatement. In the hours since the songs release, the new track has received hundreds of comments across the band’s social media, being compared to Justin Bieber with many noting Bring Me The Horizon has become ‘just another pop band’.

But there’s a lot of love for the new direction too. Of the trend of bands who began in the metalcore genre before becoming a more rock-centric outfit, Bring Me The Horizon seems to have made the move most successfully. There’s a lot of excitement and anticipation around the new album and it will undoubtedly have Bring Me The Horizon fans who love it and praise the new sound and fans who will yearn for the older days.

Either way, fans of the band don’t have long to wait to find out whether they love or hate the new direction, with amo dropping later this month, Friday 25th January. Boasting thirteen tracks, there’s still ten more to come that may make or break the album for those waiting to hear it in its entirety.

Once the album release is done, Aussie fans will be waiting eagerly for Bring Me The Horizon’s upcoming April shows. Kicking off in Brisbane Wednesday 10th April, the band will play to Sydney crowds on Friday 12th April, before finishing up in Melbourne Saturday 13th April.

Almost three albums into their change of sound, Bring Me The Horizon have become wildly successful and, while divisive among fans, amo is likely to continue that trend for the band.
