BRAND NEW // Release First New Album in Almost A Decade

The album you’ve been waiting almost a decade for is finally here—Science Fiction by legendary rockers Brand New is out today on their own Procrastinate! Music Traitors label.

The record was produced by long time collaborator Mike Sapone. It’s the band’s first album since 2009’s Daisy, and is said to be the band’s last. Brand New announced a “planned disbandment” for 2018, during their The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me tour in 2016.

Brand New confirmed the release of the album for October on 15 August. Yesterday, the band surprised the first 500 people who pre-ordered the album on vinyl by sending them a CD of the record compressed into one long track. Hand-numbered, the packages contains text from 2001: A Space Odyssey and coordinates to Devil’s Tower, Wyoming. The unique rock formation was the setting of first contact with an unknown alien species in the 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Brand New are confirmed for High & Low Festival in San Bernardino, CA and New Orleans’ Voodoo Fest (October 27-29), and begin a two-week headlining tour in America. They will also headline three shows in the United Kingdom at Olympia Theatre, Brixton O2 Academy and O2 Academy in November.
