AUSTRALIA SAYS YES // The Votes Are In And Australia Is Feeling Gay!

In a time of such unrest in our industry, I think it’s important that, while there are horrible things done by horrible people, we need to sit back and enjoy the good moments.

For instance, today the Australian governments released the results of the same-sex marriage postal survey. And while many people have expressed their disdain for the survey happening in the first place, that didn’t stop them from turning on their TVs at 10am AEDT for the results.

With the final tally showing the YES votes clearly out-weighing the NOs, people from all over the country raced to social media (and the streets) to show their support and happiness.

Among those sharing their support was one of Brisbane’s favourite music venues The Brightside, as well as local Aussie bands ARTERIES and Chase Atlantic.

Today is a day to celebrate with your loved ones! Grab a friend, grab a lover, hell grab a stranger if you have to, and tell them that it’s okay to love who you love.

It’s about time that Australia came out of the dark ages and I for one can only hope that the results we saw today will lead to a safer, happier and greater Australia that is more than our parents could have ever hoped for.
