Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
“Fat Mike” Burkett of Cali-punx NOFX has once again found himself in Screeching Weasel’s Twitter crosshairs.
The Screeching Weasel account tweeted a barrage of cutting remarks last night, prompted by Fat Mike kicking a stage-crashing fan in the face during a NOFX show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Wednesday.
After the incident, this emerged from the Screeching Weasel account:
Hey, @FatMike_of_NOFX, what’s up? Fat Wreck Chords circa 2011 called: “Obviously, we don’t condone violence, ever. We weren’t impressed.”
— Screeching Weasel (@screechingweez) November 5, 2014
Sufficed to say, the screed didn’t stop there. Ben/the band issued more broadsides, including:
I wrote an opera about people like this. It could’ve been about @FatMike_of_NOFX – and he’ll probably insist it is! Baby Fat – Summer 2015.

This is punk 2014, gang. @FatMike_of_NOFX thinks he’s Vito Corleone; he’s the only one in the room who doesn’t realize he’s Norma Desmond.

As of writing, Fat Mike has not responded to the tweets.
Screeching Weasel’s main man Ben “Weasel” Foster’s propensity for violence is well documented. Foster assaulted two women during a SXSW 2011 gig in “retaliation” for pelting him with ice.
At the time, Fat Mike condemned the incident in Canadian street press Exclaim.ca: “I think it’s horrible because he punched someone who’s smaller and weaker than him,” stating, “If he punched a 6’5″ girl, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. If he punched a 6’5″ fucking wrestler girl, it’s still not cool, but you know. I heard earlier in the night he called her a whore and then she started throwing ice at him. So he was just being kind of a dick the whole night.”
Another public spat saw Fat Mike kick the Wisconsin punks off record label Fat Wreck Chords for “making fun of a song” in March of 2012.
As for punter “Alex” copping it in the scone, Fat Mike offered to buy him a beer provided he was at the next gig.
I’m sorry too Alex, I was in terrible pain all night. When you grabbed me by the neck I defensively reacted… offensively @alexanderpeterq

Alex, if you go to the show on friday I’ll buy you a beer. Just don’t throw it at me alright?
